10 things about me

Hi all.  I just wanted to do a little get to know me post today.  You see my craft posts on facebook a lot but I don't offer much info on myself.  So here you go.  A little glimpse into me.

1.  I am super afraid of sharks.  When I was little I thought it would be cool to be a marine biologist....till I swam in the ocean for the first time and something touched my foot. Yikes!

2. I love, love, love my chicken enchiladas.  Seriously they are soooo good I will eat the whole pan which is why I only make them when I have company, and I give most of the leftovers away.  Mmmmmmm now I'm hungry.

3. One of my favorite things to do is go on our McClary adventures.  Sometimes on my hubby's day off we will just get in the car and drive to the mountains or to somewhere we have never been before like in the pic below.  That is horseshoe springs near Tooele, Utah.

4.  I have four kiddos.  Josh is almost 13, Zeke is 8, Hannah is 5 and Sammy Levi is 3.  Don't let this picture fool you.  They love and hate each other in equal measures which makes for some very interesting days. Who tied who to what?

5.  I used to teach pre-school and art classes for K-7th grade.  It was a lot of fun but I really don't have the patience for it anymore.

6. My Grandma Jessie raised me from the time I was a baby until I turned 13.  I miss her terribly.  She was the one who taught me how to sew. This was the last picture I ever took of her back in 2006 in San Diego.
7.  Horror movies give me nightmares.  Really vivid, wake up at night crying or screaming type of nightmares.  I saw Child's Play when I was 8 and I still have nightmares.  I used to make my grandma lock my cabbage patch kid dolls up in the closet at night time because of this.

8. I have never met my father.  He died a around 12 years ago.  I have a couple half brothers out there somewhere but I don't even know their names.  I think coming from a broken family makes me appreciate the one I have with my husband and kids even more.

9.  I love 80's fantasy movies like Willow, Legend, the Dark Crystal and Labyrinth. :)

10. I hate waking up in the morning.  I stay up so late at night working that when morning comes around I feel like I have barely slept.  It can take me an hour from the time my alarm goes off until I am completely awake and moving.  My hubby on the other hand is a total early bird. It bugs me to no end lol.

Oh how about a bonus one.

11.  I love love love love my husband!  (gotta give him one more than my enchiladas) He is a super hard worker, a great daddy, funny, smart and a total hottie.  We've been married for almost 15 years and I love him more and more.

    1. Oh my gosh how could I forget the Never Ending story? I was totally in love with Atreyu when I was 9! Poor Artax in the swamp of sadness. Gets me every time.

  2. I completely agree with Heidi! Such a lovely and honest post! Your family is very cute! Wow, four... I have one little boy and I love him to bits, but I can't imagine running after four of him, lol. Those 80's movies were the best, we have them all on dvd and I can't wait until our munchkin is old enough to see Labyrinth for the first time!! x

    1. little boys are the best. :) I have tried getting my kids to watch my 80's movies but they just don't appreciate them. Well they did actually like the Goonies but who doesn't. I completely forgot about the cuss words in that one before I let them watch lol.

  4. Oh my g...why would you watch child's play at 8?! I'm 21 and I won't touch it! I've seen Nightmare on Elm Street 1-4 and all of the Halloweens - I hate horrors, but I've become a little desensitised to them after being forced to see so many by friends. But it's been a while now so I think they'd freak me out again.

I'm not afraid of sharks, but whales give me the poops. I can't swim, and I'm petrified of water, and the way I see it, if there's a whale in the water, there's no way I'm keeping my feet on the bottom and my head above the surface. They seriously do frighten me!

And I'm so sorry about your family. I'd imagine coming from a broken home would, indeed, make you treasure your immediate family all the more. But at least your grandmother was there for you, that's fantastic, and that she taught you skills that are, frankly, valuable - fixing clothes and making yetis are serious business! Speaking of which, I saw your yeti on Fawn and Flora's blog and I've added it to my Etsy cart. Soon I will gather enough pennies, hopefully! I'm hoping a sale of my own might get me there ^^

  6. I came from a pretty messed up family too and it hurts. I hate people now, I really do. I was NEVER happier then when I was by myself (until I had my daughter). My mother hated me (Seriously, I was a botched abortion and she never let me forget it!), my father was the 'super wealthy kids cramp my style playboy' type, and ignored me entirely until I went into highschool, but he still pretty much had it where the house was big enough and he didn't want to see me unless business people were over (In which case it was generally acceptably to have a pretty girl to look at, I took terrible offense to it at first but all I had to do was sit there and eat dinner, I forgot all about my purpose). I got EXTREMELY impulsive, more than the average teen. I moved to England on a dime. Lived there for a few years, then I moved to Ireland, while I was in Ireland I got married. Same guy I married turned out to be an international criminal (I sound real cheap - I don't even know the name of the guy I married). After the Embassy (and British Airways - you guys rock!!) helped me to get away from him, by that time I was pregnant. I gave birth to my daughter, Emily-Beth, who has Down Syndrome and I love her dearly. She is the only other person in my life that I truly trust.

Other than that, I love my job in music, I love music, and as cliche as it is and as taboo an answer this is, I adore Mozart (Everything about him, his quirks and even his arrogance). I also love history and am very interested with politics/political science. And - as you could tell from this post, I talk about me a lot, I use the word 'I' tons. I've spent too much time being ashamed of myself. That, and I really like talking and moreover typing, the rhythmic motion soothes me.

    I use commas, a lot.
As to why I turned your about you post into a comment about me... See above ;).

I really enjoyed reading your post!
